2x^2-7x-30

a) The best way is to find two numbers that a product equal to ac and a sum equal to b.
ac=-60 , b= -7; the two numbers are -12*5=-60, and -12+5=-7

b) Now replace bx by two terms using the two new numbers as coefficients.

2x^2-12x+5x-30

c) Factor the resulting four term polynomial by grouping. Factor the first two together, and the last two together.

2x(x-6) +5(x-6)

d) The answer is (2x+5) (x-6)

(2x+5)(x-6)

Note the 5 & 6 are actors of 30 (5*6=30)
and -12 + 5= -7
