I have a waterpik which is like an electric toothpick thing used to clean your teeth. well i accidentally dropped the end of the plug into the little bowl of water, but only for like 2 seconds then i immediately pulled it out and wiped it with a washcloth. if i tried to plug it in, and its been a day later, would i get electrocuted?

Will it get plugged into the mains supply? If yes, better wear rubber healed and or rubber gloves when you plug it in. It may get shortcircuited but you will be safe.

I assume that this is the cordless model, like the one seen here:

If this is the case, you should not get electrocuted because the motor and battery are both in a sealed plastic case.
When you put the waterpik in its holder, the holder sends a magnetic field through the base of the waterpik. This magnetic field causes a current to flow in the electronics (through a process called induction), and the battery charges up. There is no pathway for the current to get outside the sealed chamber, and you are protected.
You are not the first, nor will you be the last, person to drop one of these into water. Good engineering takes this into consideration and provides a safe product.

Once the hoover has been unplugged there is no electric circuit. There should be no electric shock by touching the plug. Maybe it was a static shock.
