The Imperial Japanese Army tanks were noted for their thin armor, underpowered, and multi-turrent designs. They were copied off German and Italian designed tanks.

They were really poor machines with thin armor and weak guns, not to mention they weren't strong enough to rush through forests crushing trees in front of them...They were easy pickings for Shermans, even Stewarts.

edit:I think Japanese, didn't want to turn their attention to tanks because of the island warfare they were fighting in which tanks wouldn't be of much use.Their tanks were too old for modern ww2 tanks.

edit2:as for rating,I think they were worst tanks used in war, even Italian tanks were better.

They had tanks? Tanks don't work too well in rice paddies...Such as Korea, Japan, the Philippines. They could not be used on many of the mountainous islands in the Pacific.
