How is she treated by the locals? I would have thought if people knew who she was her life would be hell. A while ago I was told she was living not too far from where I live - whether she still is or ever was living locally I don't know. Personally I think any person who commits crimes against children and is found guilty, should be shipped off to a remote island somewhere and left to fend for themselves instead of being given a new identity and new life. This woman will be hounded for the rest of her life by people that realise who she is - I don't think the papers really have any need to reveal the details.

Released offenders are living everywhere why is she so different?. I understand that one of Jamie Bulger's killers is living in Devon where I live. I may not like it if they were living next door, but saying that at least I would have Police Officers on the doorstep and not hiding somewhere in a Police Station. Give the woman a break. Is it a crime to love someone and to try and protect them?. I am sure she didn't know that he was a murderer.

The police guard etc are probably because of vigilantes like you who would seek her out to kill or hurt her. If you look at the FACTS of the case instead of the hysteria, you will realise that what she did was lie to protect her boyfriend, the murderer Ian Huntley, who at the time she believed to be innocent. Yes, she was gullible and stupid, but no, she is not a murderer. When Huntley was found to have murdered Holly and Jessica, Maxine Carr was found to have had no involvement at all in their abduction and deaths. She went to prison for having lied to the police, served her sentence, now she is a free woman. If people like you left her alone, she would probably be able to get a job and live a normal life but you won't, will you?

It's all of you finger pointers who should be locked up, you are the people who create the need for police protection. It's time you gave these kids a break. Yes, even the ones who have murdered, they've served their sentence and need a chance to sort their lives out.

i totally agree with you, i cant believe that most of the answers are siding with maxine carr! oh my god, yes read the facts, she coverd up for him, that to me is guilt, she knew what he had done, mabe you should read the book by hollys dad, it has some very intresting facts, are any of you do gooders parents?? honest to god it makes me sick that you think she should be protected, she is a sick woman. and i dont mean that in the ill sense either. and if she is earning a living then why should taxpayers money go towards her living expenses and protection, if shes that bloody scared then she should use her earnings to pay for plastic surgery to protect herself!

She's served her time so technically she should be allowed to live her life untroubled by the Public. She has to be protected from those who might try to harm her because that is the way we do things in this country unless you want lynch mob rule.

Right. Her ex-boyfriend, Ian Huntley is a double child murderer, with various other allegations come to light since conviction.
Is she a murderer? No. So what is her crime? She's a stupid woman, who lied to the police to protect the man she loved. I don't think she believed he had killed the girls. Thousands of other 'not very bright' women with boyfriends with 'strong personalities' might have done the same. She went to prison for nearly 3 years for this offence, which was possibly a bit lenient.
What will happen if she is forced to live publicly without protection? Someone will kill her.
Does her crime deserve the death penalty? No. Her boyfriend's crime might (not in my opinion, but I can see where 'hangers' are coming from on this one).
So do we abandon her to the lynch mob, or offer her a new identity and protection?
I think that the treatment of this case by the popular press was over-sensational, and led to a stupid young woman being demonised for the crimes of her boyfriend.
Huntley should be left to rot in prison for the rest of his days. Carr should be left alone to live in peace. If she needs protecting from members of the public, then I'm afraid that we, the public, will have to pay for it. The alternative is to allow the lynch mob to rule, and while you might not like Maxine Carr's crimes, remember, she murdered no one.
And if we allow the lynch mob to rule this time, who do we set them loose on next?

Given that she is now free and has to earn a living she has to live somewhere or perhaps you would like her to turn to crime so that you can do the "I told you so" The issue of whether she should or should not be released is a over. She has served her sentance.

She committed a crime, she was convicted and she's served her time. If it weren't for idiots making comments like this then there'd be no need for her to be protected.
