No, America is not a police state. This is just an example of a in-duh-vidual person overextending his authority. If it was that bad I would have spit it out before swallowing and complained to management.
She did inform management of the problem and they tried to hide it by brushing off the salt, if anyone should be held accountable it would be them.
This could happen anywhere in the world not just in the Americas. I was in the Philippines once and a customer complained that a $5 casio watch that he left on the table was taken by someone. The police came into the establishment and ****** their standard issue machine guns. After a minute or two the watch turned up and was given back. Now that's what I'd consider to be a police state.
Every time I got back from deployments to other countries I'd get home and think of the Linda Ronstadt version of the Chuck Berry song "Back in the USA".

First of all, this took place in Georgia and America is made up of 50 states in the union. Each state has different laws that govern them. If any state is like a police state because if its track record, California wins hands down. Its a very litigious state with police used for social control.
I read the article. This incident was irresponsible of the employee and manager and I'm really glad that there was an officer instead of a citizen who had no power of retaliation.
Here is why I think that. There are adults who suffer from hyper tension in our country and it could be life threatening to those who eat that amount of salt in one sitting. Enough to trigger a heart attack.
Georgia people are known for bing pretty heavy, anyway. Too much burgers and fried foods in the diet.

No, you silly goose. It's proof that cops are less likely to accept poorly-crafted burgers than most other people, especially since they're often the target of MacMorons who think it's funny to spit on or otherwise nastify a cop's food. Granted, the cop may have over-reacted by hauling her in, but it's up to a judge to make that call, not someone who only read the news report and wasn't even there.

No, that's just one overzealous cop. The charges will be thrown out. Mark my words. To call America a police state, no matter how cool and counter-culture it is to say so, is an slap in the face to the people who REALLY live in a police state.

no way the cheap people at the burger joint should have trown that away. mcdonalds trows away more food nightly than any other fast food chain. they should give the good food to the homeless . the manager is trying to save a few bucks buy thumping the salt off the burger that made the officer sick . read the story it made someone else sick and they still gave it to the officer. people that work fast food have no morales they dont care thats why i dont eat that crap.

Wait till you read about the Malaysian police... they're working with criminals to frame innocent members of society and openly denied any involvements.
The case highlighted there would probably be just about the same as the ones back there in Malaysia... with a dash of racism...
