as a matter of fact, I do. I usually go shopping only one every 10 days or so, and I fill that cart full up. I have a list and a clipboard, and I've often been mistaken by stocking clerks as someone from management because of it. But, I don't have too much free time, so I try and plan my grocery shopping pretty closely. There are 5 of us, and we all have busy schedules. Getting dinner ( for us, lunch) on the table so that we can eat together most days is a job in itself.
If there is someone behind me with only a couple of things, I generally let them ahead of me. If it's the 15 min. break from the local high school, then, no, I don't. Fortunately, the store manager knows when break time is, and usually has the 10 items or less aisle open for the kids.
I work a split shift most days, as does my husband, and we have three kids. we have to plan these things, but that doesn't mean we can't be polite.
Most folks really appreciate it.

Great question!
I very often do just that because when I go in there it is to buy a weeks worth of groceries and I have a huge buggy full. Last Christmas there was an incident that I think of every so often. A gentleman was headed for the checkout with less than 5 items and this younger couple ran -- and I do mean ran -- to get in front of him with a huge loaded down buggy. I was in the next lane over and had been waiting awhile...like I said right before Christmas....I could see the guy who got cut off -- his face was so red. I was up next....and I caught his attention and motioned for him to go in front of me. He was so grateful and told me he had just stopped to get breakfast for in the morning and his kids had been participating in a ball tournament and he was exhausted. I think he gave me the most sincere Merry Christmas I received last year. I would not recognize him if I saw him, but this little story will stick with me for a time.
Peace.

yes, usually. my favorite story that made me feel really good was last T'ving. I had forgotten a few items and had to go tot he sotre (bad idea on T'giving). When I made it back to check out, there were only a couple of aisles open and about 10 people ahead in both. I took my place in line and watched as about 10 more piled in behind me. I was almost to the front when I looked back and saw this poor little old man at the back of my line holding an apple pie. He had a very sad look on his face. I went and got him and brought him in front of me. He was so thanful and said the only thing we was supposed to bring for dinner was the pie but he had forgotten. He was about to put it back and just leave. Let me tell you, that was the best feeling in the world!! ♥

Almost always, because i rarely go to the grocery unless i'm doing the weekly shopping, and that means i have an entire cart full of food. Inevitably, no matter what time i hit the grocery there are never enough registers open!

Usually I do if I am not in hurry, the last time I let some one go in front of me they had two little items and not enough change in her purse, she tried to use coupons for items not listed on coupons. I ended up helping her with 23 cents.
