It would be great if we were on the same page just one time & rebuild the towers. Lets put politics aside for once.

It should have been rebuilt years ago. Instead there is nothing but nonsensical bickering about how you can't build on the site because there is microscopic dust particles that were once body parts, because no one would feel safe working in a high rise, because there is no agreement on what kind of design the new building would look like. Just rebuild two towers that look exactly like the old ones but are build to the highest safety specifications and get it over with

They are not going to put aside politics over it. Basically, the Dems and libs want to make a memorial blaming the Republicans for 9/11, thats not putting politics aside is it, but it is par for them.
It's going to mindless propaganda, It's going to teach, the already tolerant people of the USA to be tolerant of terrorists, seriously thats what they want it to represent.

This question & many of the answers are vivid examples of the dumbing down of America.

For Your information, WTC #7 has already been replaced. (See MS Virtualearth for satellite view of it). Construction of the Freedom Tower, meant to replace the twin towers, has begun. Space has also been set aside for a memorial for the 9-11 victims.

So tell me - where have you all been? And please tell me you don't actually vote.

There's already a memorial planned. I think they should put the twin light pillars back up till construction starts though. That was a powerful yet simple memorial to what happened.

I think the powers that be decided to place a monument at that spot instead, so that all Americans will remember 9/11/01.

The decision has been made, years ago, that a memorial will be built on the site and that the towers will not be rebuilt. Had you been paying attention you would know that already.

Why is this "our" decision to make. It is an extremely valuable piece of property in the economic capital of the world. It should be developed in the most economically viable way as possible. If it takes the owners 10 years to figure out how to do that, then so being. It isn't being done for you or for me or for national pride or to stick it in the eye of "the terrorists".

It might be a good way to increase national unity, as long as it wasn't used as mindless propaganda.
