I have appreciated the answers I've received so much that I like to give back with information I'm sure of. It's a wonderful forum to get a quick and most times, honest answers to somthing you want to know quickly. Whenever I have extra time I jump on and go through the categories I have the most knowledge and experience in. I do feel good when I get picked as best answer for the simple reason of knowing I helped someone out.

In my particular case its probably b. Being a reference librarian, answering questions is my job. Usually its slow and Answers allows me to pretend I'm being useful, although to tell the truth many of my answers are probably not what the questioner wants to hear. And I can be rather abusive of people who cannot find the time to write a decent question.

It makes me feel good. I like the chance to think through a thing well enough to answer a question - it helps me get clarity.

I also love the feeling that maybe I've helped another person.

I like the feeling. I feel better when I know that one hopeless and lost person who was looking for and advice here, is now feeling much better and happier, because they read my answer. I am happy to know I helped someone out there, that maybe I changed someone's life.

I don't mind sharing my knowledge, and if it helps someone, that is wonderful. That's what people are supposed to do, help each other. And I learn things from other people, I learn their points of view and keep an open mind. This is a good thing, and I enjoy what I do here.
