Its because back then, meaning a long time ago the boards were black but for some reason they are green now and i guess the name is still blackboard even though it is not black but green

I think they used to be black, but then they changed it to green years later. But the very first ones were black (at least that's what I remember after watching Little House on the Praire - LOL)
