.....We have no ACLU chapter here. Can the law even be challenged under The U.S. Constitution or any other State or Federal Statute?

Hell, I live in a "dry" county (no alcohol sales) and have to drive to a "wet" county 60 miles away just to buy beer. I work Monday through Saturday and Sunday is the only day off I have to make a "beer run". This seems to me like dicrimination. Everyone knows that the reason that sales are prohibited on Sunday is because that is what the "Prohibitionist Christians" that run this state want. Why else would there be no sales on Sunday. I could go to Texas and purchase 80 miles away. They allow sales between 12:00p.m.-7:00p.m. on Sundays. Still a blue law, just more lax. The big problem with that is that then I'm breaking the law transporting the beer across state lines. It's bad enough that I can't go to the local convenience store down the block. But I understand that this county is "dry". But that is 24/7, cut and dry, no discrimination there.

Bill N. I do stock up when I can get to the store. I buy six 30 packs at a time. My wife and I drink four 30's a week. My only day to go get beer is SUNDAY.

Servent of, I used to make my own beer. We drink more than I can make and besides that I don't have the time when I'm working all the time.

Raven-Roycroft, it used to be $100 per container fine across state lines. Not sure if that is still in effect. Law enforcement here won't tell you the law they tell you to talk to a lawyer. Liquor stores on the state line is really not the answer that I was looking for.

Proud Marine Wife, I work farther away from the beer stores than where I live 60 miles away.

Liger, I understand seven day a week prohibition in a county. It's when they do it one day a week prohibition statewide and that day happens to be Sunday, the Christian Holy Day that I begin to have a constitutional crisis.

mdGreg C, I would bet everything that that someone and his/her cronies are practicing Christians. I used to be in California. I'd be a hypocrit if I went to church here. These people haven't got a loving bone in their soulless bodies.

Dee B. Is that short for Dumb@ss. I'm not from Arkansas. If I was i'd just take it in the backside like the rest of the sheep have done here at the hands of the democrats since reconstruction. You don't ever see any of them on here b!tchin' do ya. Hell I'm the only one in my neighborhood with the internet. I have to schedule them to come up here to the big house to use it.

Sensible Man I didn't say that I didn't live in Arkansas. I do. I said that I am not from here (originally). Sorry for the confusion. I've lived here off and on my whole life. Private clubs are not the answer that I am looking for either. My real beef is not with dry counties. I should have never mentioned them. My problem is NO SUNDAY SALES STATWIDE. A clear violation of NO CHURCH AND STATE!!!! When was the last time the Republicans controlled the State House? That's right Sloan R. Reconstruction Days. The Governor has no power compared to the legislature. You are aware of that in this Good Ol' Boy, Free Mason, sh!th0le of a state aren't you?

You told Dee B that you didn't live in Arkansas. So why do you care what the laws are here? They were voted on by the general public and thats how they got the laws passed. I live in the "wettest, dry county" in Arkansas. They just change to private clubs and require a membership fee of $5 a year. By the way, Republicans have been Governor here for quite a while. (when the laws were passed)

your state (along with others) are controlled by the ABC (alcohol Beverage Control Division) which after research shows how crazy the whole wet-dry counties are outlined in your state. Pennsylvania (where i am from) is controlled by the liquor control board however recently they lifted the ban on consumption of alcohol on sundays my advice would be to contact your congressman at best to try and turn over these laws here is the link to all the information you need to know

sounds like it is time for you to move. That happened in Snider Texas. Everyone started moving away, so finally they changed from dry to wet. Now there are beer/liquor store on every corner!

How are the Christians forcing their religion down your throat? It seems to me to be the will of the people to not sell alcohol on Sunday and I guarantee they are not all Christians as Muslims and Jews feel the same way perhaps you have a beef with Christians. It seems you have a double -standard. Maybe you need to move to a county that has your point-of-view.

yeah, it sucks. but we have an old fridge in the garage for just this reason. and as for the aclu, screw them. they protect pedophiles and have lost all my respect. and transporting beer across state lines... while it's technically a law, i have never heard of anyone getting in trouble for that. there's a reason all the liquor stores are right on the state line.

Get on your mule, ride to the general store in the next county, buy several cases, then go on your date with your cousin and get good and wasted.

If my state produced the Clintons, I guess I'd want to drink constantly too.

Well think about it. They can outlaw the sale of alcohol completely within a county. Naturally it would seem they can also outlaw the sale of it one day a week.

Why not buy beer on your way home from work and keep it in the fridge until Sunday?
