Because lead is dangerous. It causes brain damage when kids are exposed to it over time. Think about kids putting these toys in their mouths, or putting their hands in their mouths after playing with the toys. They could be taking in lead, and this could be harming their developing brains.

Lead can be extremely toxic if ingested. Most children of young age especially while teething place objects in their mouths, if these objects are lead it can cause serious health problems. Lead paint should also not be kept near children(especially in their room or on their cradle), if the paint flakes off and is ingested by a child it can also cause health problems.
