I'm against it. Is the lowest form of pandering to a group. Why not have debates in Arab to please the Muslim communities? I'm Hispanic and I think this is preposterous, I'm surprised they were that dense to agree to this debate.

They are being honest pandering politicians! It is the cheapest way to buy votes. Usually they buy votes by creating a new entitlement program. The value is in the votes not the ethics to them.
Remember in the Bible when God wished to stop men from working together he disrupted communications - are the Dems' "Leaders" attempting to break up the US!

I am 100% against any political party having a debate in any other language than English.
Nobody pushed for a Norwegian debate when my grandparents migrated here, what makes anyone else think they have the right to even propose such a thing?

That's just a tacit on the demos part to sign up more illegals up to strengthen and solidify an important voting bloc for them. But since this a free country, they can do whatever they like to increase their power.Wether it's truly worth it in the end, that I'm not so sure!

Chi, you and I generally don't see quite eye to eye but in this case I couldn't agree with you more! Have they forgotten in which country they're running for office? This is an all time new low for the pandering left...good question sir.

I think it's a horrible idea. I can tell you that the Hispanic population of Coral Gables is predominently Republican so this is nothing but the Dems pandering again.

Nothing... Except to say that they are willing to reach out to the Hispanics that are here. It actually says a lot. You just hate Democrats so much you attack them any way possible. They are saying that immigration is a big issue and Democrats are willing to address it in a reasonable way and not ignore the Hispanics. I see nothing wrong with having a Spanish debate.

Chi--We agree once again--a rare but happy event. I believe all the dems here who agree with your position should let their elected representatives know this is NOT what you want. As a member of the 'other' team, I plan on writing my reps (all dems) with my views on the matter as well.
Kudos for posting it!

Your last question in this question, describes my feelings to a tee. I can't believe that they're doing this and am very apposed to this type of pandering. We're the United States of America! We're NOT Mexico!
If you're going to be a citizen who is eligible to vote, for goodness sakes, at least learn the language.

If you want to destroy a culture what do you do? Destroy their language. Here in the US we have a very distinct culture. That's what keeps us united. By pandering to other than English speakers, implies that they are apart of our culture. But clearly they are not.
Democrats would hold a debate hosted by Bin Laden if it would get them votes. They already agree on alot of issues.
