what other uses are their for a large above ground pool other than swimming

None that I am aware of except the exercise you get from reaching for your wallet. I have owned two large pools and would not do it again. Everyone vows to help with the upkeep but is always "busy" when it comes to doing it. You gain lots of friends who want to use the pool and think that their friendship also involves you feeding and "watering" them.
