Sadly, I have had to live in the United States all of my life. But I have had the pleasure of meeting many beautiful European ladies.

But generally speaking are American women much more masculine then European women?

The reason I ask is that we Puritans, we Americans hide our women under baggy sweats like the Arabs. I mean if you go to a public place such as the corner library or the grocery are the women not dressed like men in slacks or sweats?

Why is it that American women prefer to look more masculine when European women are still wearing dresses and their hair long as is the ideal woman (ie. Audrey Hepburn, Garace Kelly). Sure American women used to look like women but what ever happened?

At least some female celebrities still retain a feminine look such as Paris Hilton!

But what has happened to America? When did the lazy ugly Rosanne Barr look become the average look for American women? What can we do to improve the look of the 21st century United States woman?

You have been to Germany right? and Italy? and Russia? and what used to be the Ukraine?

You are being very very sexist, who are you to tell women what women should dress like, look like, be like - kind of ridiculous to expect a female cop, paramedic, firefighter, pilot etc to be wearing a dress and have long flowing hair? Or would you prefer women just be slaves to men like the good old days?

You are talking about ancient history pal. Men arent exactly the same as they were back then either or havent you noticed? Find yourself a time machine or grow up

Shame on you, women have worked hard to escape this kind of oppression by neanderthal thinkers like you.

FYI The rest of the world has changed too and if you ever DO go to Europe you will be VERY VERY disappointed, Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly dont live there anymore but REAL women do

I cannot believe that men today would EVEN suggest that women should revert to a role their grandmothers had so they would be able to "land a man" and there wouldnt be so many single women. AS IF marriage is the ultimate goal for women? Your attitudes are disgusting, most women these days have their eyes set on the board room NOT the laundry room washing some guys dirty underwear.

No wonder there are so many single men whining that they cant find someone to marry them is more factual.

freedom of expression
the long distance from house to supermarket. driving there and having less experience with walking.
and some american women feel like they're taken for granted by their family.
so women are introduced to the men's world of opportunities.
in america, being a female of power is "good".
and given that, it's hard to embrace both those qualities.
america is just one big melting pot of culture and it is hard to embrace one culture's values without ignoring the other.
paris hilton doesn't look feminine. she looks like a tall lanky 14 year old. she's rich and she doesn't have a job. if she wasn't rich and got a job and 2 children at home, stress from work and finance, a husband that comes home late, and errands to run. she wouldn't look so feminine.
we can improve it by slowing down our economy and eating less and exercising more.
our women are overworked as it is, so don't expect them to transform and become heroes of the home and work and the public eye. it's hard being a woman!! [in america]

Nope. There are feminine and masculine women everywhere. The only difference is a lot more European women don't shave and in America it's pretty much a sin not to.

EDIT: It really depends too, because a lot of European cultures have much more submissive women then America and it depends on if that appeals to you or not. Just because my wife doesn't 'do as she's told' doesn't make her less femenine.

Most American women look like fat, slovenly, angry lesbians in their appearance for the most part. From what I have observed, women started cutting their hair extremely short, abandoned women's clothing, started getting angrier and wonder why they are chronically single. Newsflash ladies, no man wants to date someone try to look like them. The next time you angry librarian look a likes wonder why you're single, take a hard look in the mirror and point.

I think the "masculine" look has come to be the norm because the American women are competing in the job market with men.
"Sexy" women don't get the respect that men do when it comes to business.

It does seem that femininity has disappeared! I'd love to see more dresses and long hair! There probably wouldn't be so many single women out there!

Keezee is absolutely right, there are "more masculine" and "more feminine" women EVERYWHERE, silly goose.

If there ARE any real differences, they are that American women obsess more over cleanliness & hygiene & hair-removal than European women....and Japanese women are even more fastidious than Americans, typically.

You should adjust your spectacles....ALL women are beautiful!

gosh!
I'm sorry you don't like the way we look.
every man has his own look, also.
I think you like very dainty woman! and that's OK by me.
I like that I can express myself the way I want to. I am glad my daughters can too.
I am glad you have expressed your opinion. I don't think you need to put down the choices of other men to glorify your choice. why would you do that?
America the beautiful...to lots of people right?lol
