These days when pay is equal women still appear poorer than men because they fall prey for catchy slogans and shiny wrap paper at the mall. For example, I pay 50c for a $1 item that I need, my girlfriend pays $2 for a c50 item she doesnt need...Since its impossible to keep them from shopping, shouldnt they be paid more to achieve a true financial equality?

In the interests of 'substantive equality,' I would have to agree.

Then again, I've got a brutally expensive bimbo habit - costs me 4 grand a month - so the more I think of it, I'd be all over this policy.

3 thumbs down - oooh rough crowd.

Personally, I don't have poor budgeting skills at all. And I don't spend frivolously. To be honest, I really don't think that's a generalization that can even apply to most women...maybe teens and those in their early twenties, but as women grow older they manage their finances better (just as men do).

But in answer to your question, no. If someone has poor money management skills, they shouldn't be paid more for doing the same job.

What a silly question.
People don't have poor budgeting skills just because of their sex, what they buy, or how much they decide to save.
But on the other hand, I do believe it would be nice for everyone that works to make $50,000 annual salary no matter what there job is!!

Absolutely not. Mature women aren't that dumb. Everyone should learn how and why to prepare a budget at a reasonably early age.

The actual generalization is "A woman will spend a dollar on an item she doesn't need, a man will spend two dollars on the same item he does need."

If your going to stir the pot, use a bigger spoon, my friend!

Anyone who mistakes an anecdote for evidence probably doesn't deserve to be paid anything at all!

Hm, looks like most who answered your questions recognize it for the unfair, biased generalization it is. Does that make you feel smarter or dumber than a box of hair?

That's a pretty unfair generalization. I know lots of guys that suck at spending and saving money.

huh? give me a break. as far as i've noticed, it's actually mostly wives who do the budget for their families. maybe you hang out with the wrong women. but hey, if you want to pay me more, i'll take it.
