So, in my drama 2 class, we have to write our own monologues, and perform them in front of the class. These monologues are also going to be turned into two person scenes later. And there are absolutely no guidelines for this stupid assignment. It can be drama or comedy, there is no time limit or specific thing we have to write about; it doesn't even have to be from personal experience! These are my LEAST favorite types of writing assignments, because they're so freaking vague. I wrote one already, but it really really sucks, and I want to start over. I just can't think of anything good to write about! Does anybody have some ideas they could throw at me, so I could attempt to center a monologue around it? I've been wracking my brains here. I'm NOT asking any of you to write the whole monologue for me, I'd just like some ideas. I'm suffering from writer's block here.

Thank you. :]

It is a stupid assignment. Try telling about your realationship to acting, how you got into it, why you like it, what you might do with it some day. Agents often ask actors about such things so it make a stupid assigment, worthwhile

personally, I would do a funny soap-opera-ish drama centering around a girl with a brain tumor who is accidentally in love with her brother.

Some other ideas?
-short stories from the past (think elementary school) could be made into a monologue

-write a poem or a short story, or just any random thing down on paper, or better yet--play this game where you set a timer for 45 seconds and you have to write ANYTHING on a piece of paper, but the rule is you can't stop writing until the 45 seconds are up. I do that when I can't think.

-ask a younger sibling or cousin for ideas. They have the best imaginations.

-Listen to some music that tells a story, and think about what the words mean. write a poem about it and turn it into a monologue.

hope I helped ♥

Hmm, that's tough...

How about go on google look at some sample monos and try replacing the some of the stuff in there. But build it around that... As for humorous or dramatic. I would go with humorous. Funny is always easier to write and never sounds cheesey.

Good luck!

These many years I have spent, watching over my dear mother, sister, and beau I have done so faithfully since my death but now... I wonder if my help can mean anything that would make a nice starting piece, and work into the tragedy of a recent accident if you would like to go down that path
