Before I go on, don't bother with any stupid answers - you are obviously being stereotypical. However back to the point, albums like 'Renaissance The Mix Collection 1' produced in 1994, are surely worthy of being titled as one of the best albums ever. In this case, it was the first ever album mixed by a DJ/DJ's, and possibly the best - the beat matches are as clean as a whistle, and the song layering/ordering is genius. It's been the only dance album i've known to tap into your emotions, and reflects the Michelangelo artwork. It was then deleted from production, so now its a very rare/expensive album!
Or what about The Annual vol.2 from Ministry of Sound (1996)? That went Platinum 3 times over!! And its become the biggest ever selling dance album, and the series for that matter.

I could go on - surely they are just forgotten because todays modern crappy music creates a stereotype?

Or is it that people simply haven't listened to these albums, and just shrug them off anyway?

moon the loon - they are various artists, but the art comes in the mixing, song selection, and the ordering. As I said previously, Renaissance 1 is one of the few dance albums to be a piece of 'art'. Sasha and John Digweed have a musical intelligence - they know what sounds right, and if music awards/polls are awarded for achievement, then why aren't the efforts recognised by such DJ's?

MQ2: a million. volume 4 - Black Sabbath 2. experience The Lightning - Metallica 3. grasp Of Puppets - Metallica 4. Rust In Peace - Megadeth 5. form of The Beast - Iron Maiden 6. Sabotage - Black Sabbath 7. The Downward Spiral - 9 Inch Nails 8. Troublegum - medical care? 9. Rage against The gadget - Rage against The gadget 10. Reign In Blood - Slayer MQ3: i've got been which skill to make a matching record on RYM too yet i will in no way make certain on the order, it purely retains changing. besides, there is a lot of albums on your record that i've got no longer listened to yet yet i admire the final public of the single's that I even have heard. universal, i might say that's a large record.

It's a good point. I remember with fondness, some of the early Cream albums (Renaissance was a classic too). Dave Seaman, Brandon Block, Sanchez and even Pete Tong on Friday night still have me reminiscing. But if I really try to be pragmatic about it - the reason that these albums are not judged as the finest ever is because (as good DJ's they were) they were not "musicians" and as such, i have to conclude that they do not qualify.

I kinda agree (i am heavily involved with house music production) to give my creditinals a bit. i've been dj-ing for over 17 years now..dj'ed from san fran..where i live..to brazil..to london to montreal to nyc to ibiza and more.

but I say that most people sleep..or don't give credit to these albums. however, with that said, there has been better albums to come out since. I wouldn't say tha tbecause m.o.s. when platinum makes it a great album..most of it could have been (and usually is) due to people buying blindly (i pesonally don't like that album or most of ministery's music..trance needs to take its *** back to europe and stay there)

but there are so many deep house cd's from this time. nyc's deephouse collection (96 i believe as well) just about anything off the nervous lable during these years...I could go on. but i'm not here to fight with you I'M HERE TO AGREE WITH YOU.

people are to much into that crap linkin park and **** like that. they are passing up the deep beat of that good house music.

its a sin almost

They never give awards etc for compilation albums, no matter what style of music they are, because all compilations are just bits of original material by someone else shoved together by record companies to make a fast buck. It doesn't matter how well it is ordered or mixed, it's someone elses hard work.

I love dance/club music too.! I think dance music is hugely underrated. It should be taken much more into consideration. people should play that music more in the clubs instead of all that hip hop, and producers should produce more dance music, we need a revival of dance/club music for this new millenium.

Dont know much about these albums but perhaps they are compilations rather than one artist or bands work, and hence not cosidered in the judging

You are right, unless you were into dance music you would never know. At the end of the day it is personal taste.
