I broke my foot on Thursday and have it in a cast now. The cast is not able to get wet. Does anyone have any ideas about what I can do?

I put a trash bag around my cast. Then, if you have a large rubber band(or garter) to keep the trash bag in place while you are in the shower. It is a hassle, but I hold that foot outside the shower stall while I am in there with the water on. Just make sure you don't lose your balance and break your other foot. LOL

When I had surgery on my right foot, the PA told me to wrap my foot in plastic bags and seal it off with duct tape to keep it dry. I also got a shower stool, so I could pretty much keep my foot out of the shower while I washed. That way my foot was not under the shower very long and stayed dry. The shower stools can be gotten at a medical supply store, and are not very expensive. Hope this helps.

Wrap the cast or at least put in a bag, a plastic bag, make it two plastic bags, hell, make it three. And then seal it up, with duct tape, or rubber bands or even both. Step in the shower, HOWEVER, try and keep your plasticed up foot out of the water for as long as you can. Also, when you want to wash it, get a cotton swab and dip it in a soap and water mixture and then just I guess swab it up :P.

Showering with any broken bone is safe. Even though your cast is able to get wet, I would put a garbage bag over it just to be safe.

wrap your cast in a plastic bag, secure the top to make it waterproof and away you go.
It really needs to be waterproof though, any water that gets in will damage the cast.
It's much easier to have a bath, coz then you can just have your foot over the side.

take a bath if you have a bathtub and just prop foot of edge of tub. be careful not to let it drop into water, a wet cast is not very comfortable. if you only have a shower try to put foot outside of curtain away from water but be careful not to slip.

A trash bag works well to cover the cast. Some tape can be used to hold it on.
