I'm for it.

Genetically-engineered crops able to grow in harsh environments have fed millions of starving people, and none of the threats prophesied by the anti-GMO groups have materialized.

Plus, we might eventually be able to make people with six fingers on each hand. They'd be really good at playing the piano.

There are positive and negative aspects of genetic manipulation in crop plants. Positive aspects include increased resistance to drought, insects, and other pathogens, which increases crop yield and allows growth in unfavorable environments, thereby increasing the food supply.

However, it has been shown that the genetically manipulated plants can compete with native species, which could decrease plant diversity over time and perhaps even lead to the extinction of native species.

The upside could be being able to avoid diseases such as diabetes, cancer, etc. The down side could be that humans always seem to take a good thing and turn it into bad. For example, creating a "perfect society" etc. I'd have to say no because of that very reason.
