There are two answers to this question.
The shortest, most simple answer is
4+4-(4/4)=7
Basically 8 - 1 = 7
however the following also works:
44/4-4
44/4=11-4=7

You could do it the way other people have, but it's more interesting to use exponents and square roots; you could do it so many more ways:
(note: sqrt means sqare root, and ^2 is sqaured)
[(4 * 4) - (sqrt 4)] / (sqrt 4) = 7
(4^2 * (sqrt 4) - 4) / 4 = 7

28/4 = 7
3 + 4 =7
11 - 4 = 7
seven is a prime number; you can't multiply anything by 4 to get 7 because its only factors are 1 and 7.
