ive used pest patrol which is pretty good,id have tht avg wouldve picked it up tho

Along with avg antivirus, I suggest you download avg free antispyware and avg free rootkit. They are free-install ,update and scan....., it should solve problem.
PS:- not all trojan horse can be detected by antivirus. Add more protection using antispyware and rootkit program from avg
