Try using an old umbrella and take it apart. I would think you'd start by removing the material, by taking the material off of the strutts.....

Makes me want to take one apart! have fun

Usually, a very strong windstorm will take apart an umbrella in seconds. If you don't expect a storm soon, take your umbrella for a drive and open it up about 60mph. It will come apart in seconds.

The other way is to give it to a 3-year-old child. He will take it apart quicker than you can say "please don't play with that."

Don't be tempted to give it to the dog. He will just tuck it away until a rainy day.
