False Memory by Dean Koontz!!! Psychological thriller....awesome concept, and very suspenseful...it's definitely a page-turner.
Guns, Germs, & Steel is good too, as well as Blink.

Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond. Not a book about war, by the way, at least not directly. It describes quite eloquently why modern world societal structures are the way they are, and how they evolved.
