My friend who was a smoker has moved and left me behind with his computer. Since he was a smoker, the keyboard and mouse reek of cigarette. If I try using the mouse, some of the odor transfers to my hand!

Any ideas to completely remove the odor?

since they don't cost much to replace, honestly just replace them. Also get canned air and carefully open up the case and blow out any dust check to make sure there isn't dust stuck to the vent's or fans but be careful not to loosen any connections. Tar will get on the fan ad attract dust like feathers to honey! Weighing it down and can ruin a machine! Chemicals will cost more than replacing the keyboard and mouse honestly.

Try BAC-OUT, by biokleen. It's an environmentally friendly cleaner that has live enzymes cultures in it. I use it and it's great. I've used it on mold and it keeps mold from coming back. It has a nice lime smell. You can get it from Whole Foods or at www.bio-kleen.com
