Hi, there. I agree with the previous responder who was shocked you used alcohol to try to "sweat" out your flu. Alcohol is probably part of what is making you feel worse, as it depletes your body's immunity and also causes severe dehydration.
So ... here's what you can do now:
- Drink a LOT of water today. Your body will use it to flush out the toxins in your system and to rehydrate itself. This may make a huge difference.
- Start taking Echinacea and Goldenseal. Take 4-8 times daily today only, taking about 250 mg of each. Also take 100 mg of Zinc today. These will "jump start" your immune system and will help your body fight the virus. Tomorrow, but back to 250 mg of Ech/Goldenseal 3 times per day and cut back to 50 mg of Zinc. Taking high dosages of Garlic will also help, as it is a potent antiviral and immunity booster.
- If you can find it, drink 3-6 cups of Dandelion Root tea. A tea made of Dandelion Root mixed with Red Clover is even more potent. Sip on this throughout the day. I have done this when I've had the flu and wound up feeling 100% in under 24 hours.
- Finally, tonight before bed, run a hot--but not scalding-- bath and add 1 pint of Apple Cider Vinegar. Soak in the tub for about 20-30 minutes. I know this sounds insane, but it works. The hot water will cause you to sweat--in a GOOD way-- and the AC vinegar will cleanse the toxins and poisons from your body. Keep drinking a lot of water (or the tea mentioned above) while you do this. When you get out of the tub, wrap up in a soft robe or blankets and allow yourself to continue sweating for as long as you can stand it. DON'T FORGET TO KEEP DRINKING WATER OR HERBAL TEA DURING THIS TIME. Immediately go to bed and you will feel amazingly better in the morning.
Again ... I know some of those treatments sound really strange ... but I know they work. I didn't believe in them at first, either, until I tried them and found myself recovering from viral infections in less than a day. I wish you the best of luck.
If you still feel really bad tomorrow, don't go to class. Call your guidance counselor or send emails to your profs and let them know you are ill. Ask them to send you the day's assignments. If you attend class tomorrow while feeling awful, you're liable to cause yourself to feel bad for much longer. The first day of class is often relatively non-productive, anyway, so don't convince yourself that it's the most important day of the semester. :)

who on earth told you alcohol would "sweat out" a flu virus? And why would you believe such drivel? You sure you are ready for college?
If indeed you have the flu, it isn't going to sweat out. It is going to run it's course no matter what you do. So do yourself, and everyone you may come in contact with, a favor....stay home and get well, don't go spreading the virus around to everyone else.

Ok first off this is not the end of the world. I think it would be very impolite to show up sick and possibly get others sick. I know I would be mad if someone had shown up sick and got me ill. You need to send someone in your place if you can. Doesn't matter who. Have them take notes and get any papers for you. Maybe one of your parents or friends could help you out here. The professors understand about illnesses. Don't go.
