What is a good scary story to tell at night and what is it about?

...there are three classic ones, notorious for being told in hushed whispers, around camp fires, and in the midst of slumber parties...
...there's the one involving Bloody Mary, whereby if you stand in front of a mirror, in the dark with one lit candle, close your eyes, say "Bloody Mary" three times (the number of times vary), then open your eyes, you will see Bloody Mary behind you...

...there's also the story regarding two teenagers, holed up in a car, and parked in a cemetery; they turn on the radio, and here a horrific story about an escaped psychopathic mental patient in the immediate area. The killer's most distinguishing feature is a sharpened stainless steel hook, where his right hand USED to be. Both being scared, the two kids speed away in the car; when they get to the girl's house, the guy's gets out of his side of the car, and goes around to open the girl's side. Watching her boyfriend turn white as a sheet, and screaming at the top of his lungs, the girls realizes that he is looking at the car door handle; hanging from the handle, is a bloody stainless steel hook, attached to the bloody stump of an arm...
...there's also the story of a couple, who's car breaks down in the woods, late at night; the guy leaves the girl in the car, while he hikes back to the local town, to get some gas. Hours go by, without the guy returning to the car. The girl, who was sleeping in the car, is suddenly awoken by a repeated scratching on the roof of the car; the scratching gets louder and louder, and the girl gets more and more terrified, as the scratching gets louder and louder. All of a sudden, a bright light shines in her face, from the driver's side; a police officer pulls her out of the car, and escorts her to his patrol car. Asking the officer about her boyfriend, she turns around and screams horrifically, when she sees that SOMETHING had brutally slaughtered her boyfriend, hung him up on a branch, and left him dangling over the car...his feet swinging back and forth...his shoes scraping the roof of the car...

Okay this is true bu you might not believe me but I'm going to kind of make this into a scary story. It was a Saturday night it was almost 12:00. A young girl was in a old building helping her mother clean an office. While her mom was in the office space her daughter went out into the hall. As she was vacumeing she turned to were the "shop" (were they fixed all the trucks) there was a tiny window that you could bearly see what was in there that it was so dark. As she turned back again she saw a dark,brown boney hand. The girl was so startled that she ran back to get her mother but no one was there. The girl looked every were for her mom but the shop. The girl desided to go look there it was pitch black in the shop she couldn't see a thing looking for a light switch she heard a faint voice coming from the back of the shop. The words were almost clear enough to hear that they were saying help me. The girl never foung the light switch but in spite of finding her mother she went on feeling around to make her way through without triping on something. As she got to the far back of the shop there was a black figure standing in there she thought that it was her mother so she said mom I'm here as she got closer to the black figure she realized that it wasn't her mom. The figure had pirecing red eyes that burned right into her skull. It turns out that police never found her body but they found her mother outside asleep in the car. Her mother reported that she had never went in. At 12:00 you can hear the girl crying for her mother but sadly she will never find her. okay that isn't really true the only parts that are true is I did see a boney hand on the window and I did her the"voice" saying what I thought said help me but it was only a radio so if you tell kids this I'm sure it will scare the S**T out of them.

wow kshizzle's were great! i read the AIM one and it was really scary to me, because theres actually a closet behind me, and i'm not on AIM right now but woowwwww.... that was a really good scary story=) well, there are alot of books you can get from your library. i mean ALOT of books. have fun!

bloody mary.it about a witch who kidnap kids from a near by village and kill them and when she kill them she keep looking younger. the people of the village tie her up and burn her alive.and if you say her name 3 time in front a dark mairor her soul will come back and haunth you.
