baseball players on average make more money then football players and football players have a chance of their career ending on every play while baseball players have to try pretty hard to get hurt except pitchers tweaking their arm or something.

There are several reasons why. For starters, football players do not last that long in their sport. It is rare to see a forty year old player on the sidelines much less on the field. It is quite common to see forty year old pitchers and other positional players still playing the game of baseball. The wear and tear is not quite at the level of the NFL. 162 games of standing around for nine innings or more and maybe going up to the plate three or four times. The NFL is a day in day out, hard-nosed, full out contact sport. The practices are tougher, the mental aspect is far greater than that of baseball. Players don't spend time watching film like you would in the NFL. The hours are much more grueling and the excitement of the game is there. Like others have said, it is just one game that could set the difference between Super Bowl run or sitting at home hoping you still have a contract for next season.
I find it annoying when someone tries to compare a slow moving, light contact sport like baseball to that of football. They are completely different. Baseball players don't have to do as much as the individual football player. A baseball player could go into a funk for ten games and still have his roster spot. If a football player drops his stats in two games then he is replaced. It doesn't matter how many games you play or how the playoffs are ran, but it matters in the individual strain on the actual athlete. Football requires all aspects of an individuals abilities. It is a deep mental game of film study, route recognition, blitz recognition, finding the gaps in the defense and finding the gaps in the o-line. Football requires much more of a team play each and every play. Baseball does not. Workouts are more rigorous and the games are too hard hitting to actually play 162 games. Someone would probably die during that season. They say a linebacker running full-speed and tackling someone is roughly equivalent to driving a car 40 mph into a brick wall. They say the average tackle in the NFL is equivalent to a boxer's hardest and best punch. Imagine playing more than 17 games with those kinds of numbers. Not to mention every practice for games. Baseball practice isn't as tough or rough and the games are nowhere near the the ferocity of the NFL.
Try to put into consideration all of the factors leading up the 17 games and the injuries that occur and the lifetime affect of those injuries and the average amount of years an NFL player actually plays the game.

For one thing, football players have less chances to prove themselves. EVERY GAME IS VITAL. If they lose 5-6 games, they may not be in the playoffs depending on their division.
The Super Bowl and playoffs are decided on ONE GAME. They cannot afford to have an "off game." They have one chance to prove their worth.
This adds to the excitement and allure of it. Some people cannot wait for football season because it is an event. It is something that is people anticipate to end the week. I like basketball but I can't get excited about 80 or whatever games. Some games mean more than others but the middle of the season, I start getting a little bored. I like to see how the teams start off and how it ends. Even the playoffs, people are excited about the first game and the last game.
That's why I believe football players get more recognition. The more something is done it loses a bit of the excitement.

Because football is more strategic than baseball...IMO I feel football is exciting. Don't get me wrong I am a baseball fan, but the rush of the plays and not knowing how the outcome is going to be is what fans love. Football is a tough sport, your season or career can end with a tackle. I have been a football fan for 16 years and its always excited me to see each play executed, no matter the outcome. With baseball, its more like, ok, hit, run, catch...
But I respect your annoyance...That goes for me and tennis and hockey!

baseball players life span isn't shorten the way football players are,if you said that you play the game so you should know how long it takes to recover from a game, they do deserve what they are making, every play could be there last.
