Well, in my opinion the answer would be a mighty NO!
Ok, so you can download music, but even if you pay for subscription, its not really legal.
Limewire, infact most P2P software is plagued with spyware/malware, which in turn will mess your system up incredibly. There is an older version of Limewire which contains no spyware. However, its the systems you download music from which will have the major sorce of Virus' and spyware to help mess up your system and time.
When you download a track from limewire, you do so by downloading it off someone elses PC, in turn they could be infected, passing on the infection to you. Also, with it being P2P, they will have access to your system and all of the music that you have, not very safe hey!
If you want to download music, i would suggest doing it off a legit music site, like itunes or HMV for example, this way your getting music pretty cheap and staying safe in the process.
My advice is keep it safe, even if its an old PC you dont really care about. Piracy laws have really been clamped down, and you never know, the officers could come knocking on your door.

that's a very general question.
compare it to where you live, would you go out for the day , close the front door but leave the windows open? you wouldn't
the content is the issue also, some of it is subject to copyright. I see that from both sides, as a musician also. No one is paying my bills for studio gear etc. So, would it be ok for me to go around to steal money out of peoples wallets? (i think not)
Not everyone is signed to major labels etc. Also the thing with if someone is "supposedly" liking my work, maybe it would be nice if they tried to support it.
as for compromising security you don't know who is connecting to your computer and its opening more ports to your computer.
as for viruses/trojans etc.. regardless of mac or pc, they do exsist and embedding them into any type of file has been done in the past, and will be done in the future, sad to say. Mac users will give me rubbish about "oh we don't get viruses"... the short answer is, if that's the truth, how come there is anti virus for mac as well as pc? and YES when I used to fix mac's for a living I did find virused macs the odd time.
it compromises your computers security, so personally I avoid it. I've fixed a lot of machines in the past that were infested with **** due to users using p2p things.
so you know the risks, make your choice. Although save some money for repair bills..
I will probably get some thumbs downs from people who use it, ah well .. i find that funny, are these the same people who like a certain band, yet don't support them?

The Gnuttella community that Limewire runs on gets monitored with the aid of copyright agencies such by way of fact the RIAA, besides as hackers. you will little doubt journey spyware, undercover agent ware, trojans, virii, fake data and damaging high quality content textile over low speeds on an unreliable connection. choose for torrents fairly, they're much less volatile.

I use it all the time. Just don't download any executable files and keep your firewall on and virus protection up to date. It's not Limewire itself, but the content of some files that can be dangerous.

It's really up to you. The software itself is not bundled with Spyware or viruses but you have to be really careful with what you download. And just incase you do download a virus make sure you have an antivirus with real-time protection.
If you only want songs download iMesh. It's a bit safer.

limewire and the likes, are usually infested with spyware.
Look into downloading using "torrents". Research programs like "bit tornado" Or "Utorrent", and search for what you want to download at places like, www.thepiratebay.org

I think for the most part, Limewire is safe. But it may be illegal though.

I would not recommend it to anyone. I used it and it cost me a fortune getting all the viruses and spyware removed. The site is also full of porn. You sometimes ask for a specific film or tv prog and get a full lenghth porn movie in russian or something.
Why not install utorrent and download from mininova, much safer and much faster. Safe searching. lol

It's a P2P software. So that might answer your question right there!
P2P Software User Advisories
Please enjoy our P2P file sharing software and take care to use it legally, safely, and wisely.
Spyware. Files downloaded from the Internet (including those obtained via P2P software) may contain other software. While some such programs, such as "adware," may send you advertising, including pop-up ads, other software, such as "spyware" can track your Internet activities and report them to a third party. Spyware can even be used to take control of your computer. For an example of what happens when you don't have protection, see the eWeek article Spyware Floods In Through BitTorrent.

Many will tell you it is perfectly safe... BUT in my opinion there is no way any peer to peer network can be safe!
When you connect to an unkown computer you get whatever that computer sends you.. so how safe if that. You have no idea who you are connecting into? Sound like a good idea?
You decide but not for me.
