Winning the toss isnt crucial but just an advantage. It can be turned into a plus point only if the captain can make the right choice.

I do not think it will make much of a difference if the team is strong and good. The advantage of batting first is to put up a huge total and put the oppopsition under pressure. However, if the team looses couple of wickets earlyu on they will be under pressure and the advantage will go to the team which is batting second.

I think winning the toss is much crucial in south africa due to weather condition.
As south africa is expriencing rainfall these days, the team who won the toss will elect to bowl first due to the wet field and the wet ball. They want to have a chasable score so that they can maintain a run-rate and will not lose early wickets.

The toss is not important in 20-20, whether you bat 1st or 2nd, because this is a power game.
