Not at all. The religous right (fundamentalist) churches long ago abandoned anything resembling Christianity. They substituted their political agenda of intolerance and hate for the teachings of Christ.
In case you haven't noticed, the great majority of real Christians are not having anything to do with them and their perversion of what Christ taught.
Also, if you look past the denominational labels and such, you'll see a marked change. Christianity in America is growing, along with other faiths. But the segment that is the religious right (or today's fundamentalism, which itself bears little resemblance to wha tfundamentalism used to mean) is losingmembers. Their numbers--and influence --is eroding rapidly. For which I, quite literally, thank God.

No, the fundamentalist, angry, punitive Christian groups are doing the damage. It has little to do with Republicans.

No, because Churches are nothing more than businesses these days. The Pastor is a CEO of the Church, and he can be bought with faith based initiatives, as we discovered in the last election.
He will tell his congregation to vote Republican in exchange for receiving financial incentives from the Bush Administration.
What happened between the separation between the Church and State?

When you say Christian Church what exactly do you mean, since Christianity has some many denominations of itself (Catholicism, Evangelism, Episcopalians, Baptists, etc). But if you want to know when the Christian Church started to get damaged it was when it ignored Christ's words of peace and tolerance. Especially the last part.

Ask them if Romney is a gaggle of bigots who won't be in a position to stay their faith like your acquaintances. Why the hell did you progression into an HOA with the authority to evict you? Romney's marketing campaign supervisor for a protracted time improve into gay. Romney did no longer care. He holds fundraisers in espresso shops. i do no longer think of he's indignant if somebody beverages espresso in front of him.

Democrats have been vote pandering, and race baiting at black churches for decades. Arguably Democrats policies have damaged black families. However they got what they were after, a vast majority of the black vote every time.

Go to church sometime and find out .
Those people do not bite and you just might learn something about them .
They do pose a significant challenge for politicians to overcome .
If you do not have the support of churches you can kiss any election goodbye .
