im 13 and i am always using my friends cell phone to call my mom. i was wondering if a 13 year old girl should have a cell phone even if her sister doesnt. my sister would probably rarely use one but i use one almost all the time, how would i be able to convince my parents to get one for me if u think i should get one? and also i play soccer and volleyball and i do a lot of after school programs. and if i have nothing after school i go to my friends house so id have to phone my mom. how should i convince my parents to get one for me? or should i just leave it to the way it is? and what would be the best cell phone to get and cell phone plan?

i say get a prepaid phone and show them how responsible you can be and once they see how you can manage your minutes and messages then maybe they can upgrade that to an actual phone plan.

If you had a phone, your sister should have one also, or something to make up for it. However, I don't think you need one because you are able to make phone calls when you need to. The great news is, I am not your parent. So if I were you, I would talk to your parents about it and try to discuss the options. One possibility is if your parents called their provider for a good deal on adding two more basic phones with limited time. You might be able to sell the idea to your parents if their supplier cut them a good deal, you could not send or receive photos or text messages, and you could not exceed a set number of hours a month so you can use it for calling for a ride, emergencies, and a limited amount of chatter.

Its not a bad idea...if your parents are concerned about big phone bills, they could get you a trac phone or another "pay as you go" phone. These phones are fine for keeping in touch with your parents. This would be a good starting point. If you can show that you're responsible (don't lose the phone, don't use up your minutes in a week....use only when necessary), your parents may decide you're ready for a more expensive phone with a calling plan.

Tell them it would be safer for you to have a cell phone because of all the programs you do. You can't always depend on your friend's cell phones. But also say you won't use it to call your friends constantly.

If I remember correctly, one of my other friends said getting a prepay phone would be best for someone who need to learns how to manage her minutes & such.
Although, if your parents have a plan where calling the same provider is free or calling each other on the same plan is free, that wouldn't be a bad idea to get that either.

If they say no, sorry.

A prepaid Tracfone is a good idea for a young person like you. It allows you to be able to stay in touch with your family when you are out doing stuff but your parents can still control how much time you have on it and how much it will cost them.
If you use it responsibly I am sure they will consider a full phone plan when you are older.

As you probably know, all teens are different. If she doesn't make friends at school, ask her what she wants to do. Lets say, she really likes to draw or doodle fashion but never talked about it. She might really want to do a drawing club at school but is timid about it. I think, to really find out why she is being like this, you will have to talk to her for real, heart to heart. And even if she doesn't want to, you might just sign her up for a sports team or club, just to let her have the experience, maybe she'll like it. But in a nutshell, I think you should talk to her. Take her to the mall, and go to the cafe, and talk about things. I really hope I helped and good luck.
