Carefully, I say this because even though we can tend to be gentle, we forget our force mass.
A cup is fine, and a sheet of paper, kind of a shooing fashion,
"go on get in there, I just want take you outside."
Yes it's okay to talk as you're doing this, it's the right thing to do. Sound waves effect these little guys too.
It sounds like a variety of Huntsman, which I really don't understand why they gave it this name, because usually it sets up house in some out of the way corner, too catch its prey.
After catching it, and it could be female by its size, find some out of the way corner and dispose of it there, it's mate will find it and a few insects will keep it going.

The way I usually do it is to grab a clear cup or bowl and something flat (not a piece of paper - it has to be something decently sturdy). I cup the bowl over the spider quickly, and jiggle it a little so the spider crawls to the bottom (off of the wall). Then, I slide the flat thing between the wall and the bowl quickly, and he's trapped. Carefully, I walk to the door, open it, and throw him outside. Then I sit in the fetal position on the floor contemplating the fact that there was a huge spider in my room lol

1. Put a thin cardboard on the floor or the wall
2. Take a cup or so and quickly cover the spider
3. Move the cup till its on top of the cardboard. The spider will have to move with the cup.
4. Lift the cup with cardboard covering its face.
5. Throw it out (throw the whole thing out if you are scared of it and later retrieve the cup)
By the way are you the head of 'world insectlife federation'?...so sympathetic...just joking.

Pop a dixie cup over the top of it and slide a piece of paper under the dixie cup. Flip it over and then take the spider outside and set it free. That's how we usually get rid of bugs.

Oh, you are so sweet...I like you. :)
Anyhow, do exactly what everyone is suggesting because they are right on. Only I've found that a clear cup or glass works best and thin cardboard or card stock. A paper plate is not flat enough.
Good Luck with your save.
