i use the water from the washing machine to clean the balcony, water i use from washing vegetables, i use them to water the plants, i segregate my trash paper, wet, plastic and glass. and so many other things, water and electricity here in singapore cost more that gold.

Haha, that would be a little ironic to do that. I'm absolutely sure you can recycle plastic, but it depends on where you go to recycle it. Recycling doesn't always mean melting a metal down to form a different object, it could just be interpreted as re-using something. So if you take on this meaning, you could use a recycling bin multiple times.

I used to recycle everything I possibly could; any item that had that little triangle figure on the bottom, and all cardboard and paper. Since trash pick-up has been changed, recycling is not an option right now. But I do collect nickel deposits to cash in, and save the tabs off of cans to give to this girl at work who uses them toward some children's burn institute...

We have a compost bin and we recycle everything...it's mandatory here in Nova Scotia, they literally will not take your trash unless you do.
We also check out second hand stores before we make major purchases...there are good items with the bad. We also donate a lot of stuff.
