The last couple times I came to Europe I swapped my SIM card into a Motorola GSM phone and it worked fine. This time, I can get a strong signal from 4 different carrier networks including T-Mobile and Vodafone but I can not make any calls. I get an error saying "Call failed: not available" everytime I dial a number. I trieds to reach Sprint/Nextel but their web site says to call a US number but since my phone won't call out??? Any suggestions?

That is a very expensive way to go even if you get it to work. There are all kinds of options to use German phones to the US for very few Euros, But, for Gods sake!!! Don't use one of the phones in your Hotel!!!! There are those very cheep throw away phones sold there too that you use in Germany and then simply pitch when you leave.

Welcome to the club I cannot even call the guy who lives upstairs. So many times I get the same message and I have no concern about using up my minutes.
