Can I take the eggs off the plant and put them in a jar filled with water from the fishtank? I dont have another tank and I'm afraid they will eat the fry or eggs. Is it ok to have them hatch in a jar? Or do they need a bubble thing?

Yes, you could, but it would be best to remove the parents. If you move the eggs to a jar, be sure you use the same water that was in the tank (as you said) and be sure to keep the water at about 75*-78* or the eggs may die because they were not incubated. If you leave the eggs with the parents, they will certainly eat them, so the jar is much better. An airstone isn't necessary, but you will need some way to get oxygen back into the water (the best way is an airstone). If you can get a very gentle airstone and just set it right at the surface, that would give you the smallest current and the best oxygenation. It would be best to let them hatch in the jar and transfer them to a 2+ gallon tank (with a heater and airstone) and let them grow to a little more than 1/3 of an inch before adding them back into the parent tank.

EDIT: Touching the eggs will not kill them, as long as your hands are wet when you pick them up, it is not in any way detrimental to their growth or survival.

Your best bet here is to remove the parents if possible. The eggs if not handled properly will not hatch. They are where they need to be at this point and if having them hatch and live is your objective then you should NOT touch them. The parents however will need a small tank. When breeding tetras it is always a good idea to be prepared. Depending on how many black skirts you have, you could use a small 2-10 gal tank as a temp home for the parents. The fry will need to be kept away from the parents until they are bigger than the mouth of the adults. I realize you were not prepared for all of this but the reality of it is if you move those eggs to a jar there are several factors that will decrease their chances of survival. So it's up to you and how much you want to make sure they hatch out. IF you decide to remove the eggs from the tank, DO NOT take them OFF of the plant. you must remove the plant and place it CAREFULLY into a LARGE jar or bucket with some of the same water from the tank it is in. The temp must be exactly the same and kept that way. There must be an air stone or some source of air in the container. Good luck on you decision.,

You can, make sure to dechlorinate the water. Oh, and be very very careful with the eggs, they are extremely fragile. If you can, give it a small air pump
