"Are sugar substitutes safe in pregnancy?

Sucralose, the sweetener in Splenda, is made from regular sugar. Although it tastes like sugar, the body doesn't recognize it, and not much is absorbed. The FDA has deemed sucralose safe in pregnancy. Aspartame, the sweetener in NutraSweet and Equal, has also been shown to be safe. There isn't much information about the fetal effects of saccharine (the sweetener in Sweet 'n Low) so most experts recommend avoiding it."

I wouldn't personally... your body will need some sugar. If you are worried about the purity of it, change to raw sugar (brown cane sugar), it's not as processed.

Sugar replacements such as Splenda are generally just chemicals. However, I haven't heard of them effecting a pregnancy either.

If you are asking from a general health perspective, natural sugar is always the better option.

The general rule is no artificial sweeteners, because not enough is known about them during pregnancy. However, Splenda is considered the preferred choice for pregnant women.

i've been using splenda this whole time during my pregnancy and everything has been fine. they say you should use regular sugar and drink regular soda because diet sodas have certain dilutants and chemicals in them. but i don't see why anyone would want to replace splenda with sugar...it tastes about the same and its less fattening!

easily, utilising Splenda degree for degree shouldn't influence the feel all that lots. initiate by substituting one million/2 a cup of Splenda for one million/2 the sugar and notice the way it seems. i believe you will no longer see lots massive difference.

You can, but those sweeteners arent really any different than regular sugar ( unless you are diabetic) IF you arent i would just go with small amounts of regular sugar, personally i use honey .Artificial sweeteners arent that great because of the chemicals used to stimulate sweetness.

I wouldn't recommend anything artificial when pregnant. Use evaporated can juice (organic sugar), or pure organic honey.

I wouldn't, I've heard all types of terrible things about Splenda and other artificial sweeteners. I've heard that splenda attaches to your spinal cord and never goes anywhere. I've heard other things about it too so you might want to look it up.
