My husband has an older car and has lost his car keys. It's an older car. Will they have to put in a new ignition or can they make a mold of the key from the ignition? Help!!! We really don't have the money to replace the ignition...

Take your vin number to a dealer of the same model of car (GM, Ford etc) they can look up the key and remake one, cost about $10.

If the auto is manufactured after 1995 you can probably get a key made using the manufacturers Vin number. Take it to a dealership and they can reproduce a key from the Vin.
If older model the ignition switch will have to be removed and a key can be made from the tumbler code. This will be expensive but not as expensive as a new switch. Also a locksmith can "decode" some switches and make a key, this is also expensive.
