Bush? And would the roles just simply be reversed? Are the democrats merely using the situation to their advantage (as all politicians do) or would they have done things a million times better than the republicans?

I'm not sure that they would have done it, had Al Gore been president. If they had, it would have been forgotten a lot sooner than now. We Americans seem to forget that day.
Keep in mind also, the military at the time had been raped and pillaged by the previous president. We were not close to being ready for something of this magnitude. Also remember these people watch CNN, so they know the state of America every day. They knew our military would be unable to handle the situation.
I find it very difficult to believe that the majority of Americans aren't willing to accept the fact we are fighting a new war. That they are not willing to accept a new front has come about. Myself, I don't have a problem at all with the way Bush has handled things. Anyone that would complain of wire tapping needs to realize it's been done for years... Clinton did it as well, however not in the name of national security. If you are worried about your phones being tapped all you have to do is stop calling terrorists.
Many of us are unable to see the woods through the trees.. therefore expect Hillary to be your next president...

They're using Bush. I mean he's an idiot but he's not the worst president in history. They'd be just as bad or worse. All the republican scandals are up played while all the democrat scandals are down played. That's not fair. Republicans may be prone to scandal but they don't live by the polls and they won't do anything to win an election. Personally I don't like either.

If 9/11 happened while a democrat was in office & I didn'tknow any more than I know now I wouldn't dislike them anymore than I disliked Bush(actually I didn't dislike him at all. I kept thinking what a tough spot he was in). However, If a democrat had followed the same path that bush did I would feel EXACTLY the same way about them. This is not about republicans or democrats. this is about a man, one man, that has left this country sink into a quagmire of senseless dying of our young members of the armed forces. Want this war to end? Start taxing the people to pay for this war instead of selling our debt to the Asian nations. We will pay for this debt someday. With luck our kids & grandkids will pay, not us.

9/11 happened BECAUSE of a Dem President ! Slick Willie turned down Sudan'soffer of arresting himand shipping his butt to us. Don't forget it was the Clinton admin that forbade the CIA and FBI from sharing information by the law THEY passed.
The libs are so pissed because after 9/11, they were exposed as the ones qwho dropped the ball, and think our military should only be used as a "Meals on Wheels" program. Fight against evil ? Oh, no! That would mean they are WRONG! Can't have that !

There's no telling. A democrat or anyone else for that matter may have chosen a different approach. People may hate or applaud someone. There are to many variables that play into your what if.

bush had all the support in the world following 911, i think it's what he's done since then that has fostered such dissent
