That the twins are going to be taken into care. It is a fact that they neglected those young children so why shouldn't they be taken from them. Why should they be treated differently to other people who neglect their kids. Why is it one rule for them and another rule for another. Neglect is neglect.

Hi Jack H.. Thanks for the link. If this is true then things are going to get a whole lot worse before they get better. We don't know what the police have up their sleeves, especially now the UK is involved.Oh and what happened to the McCanns remaining in Portugal to clear their names ??

2007-09-09 04:18:29 · update #2

EDIT.... It still amazes me how some people are STILL condoning child neglect.,and still giving thumbs down for it.

Tgibbyson. The McCanns did not make a mistake and they didn't leave those children alone for a few minutes. They left 3 young children alone ,every evening at risk to all kinds of dangers whilst they drank and enjoyed themselves. This is neglect.... NOT a mistake. IT was planned every evening.

Of course she is panicking. What with all the publicity surrounding this case the Social Services will have no alternative but to investigate the family. What the end result will be is anyone's guess, mine is that the Social Services won't take the twins, they won't be put on the at risk register, and intervention will only be for a short while. It's pure assumption on my part but I feel strongly that if this was a couple on benefits or from a sink estate the chance of their kids being taken from them would rise twentyfold, and the sympathy they would have recieved would be far less.

Regardless of what happens, these children will always be at risk.

If they are placed in care, they may be separated or find themselves in a similar situation with neglectful foster (or adoptive) parents.

They will be in the public eye for a long time. Years from now, when they start school, they will be pointed at.

I reckon the McCanns will have their identities changed to protect them, at a huge cost to the UK taxpayer. They will be spirited away to a new location where they are not as well known, probably Canada or Australia. It will seem odd that two doctors and twins turn up in some city or town somewhere but I reckon Gerry will be allowed to remain a cardiologist as he would be the main breadwinner with his specialist knowledge. Kate will have to give up being a doctor but might do better to stay at home for the sake of the twins. She may get a less responsible job, even given her medical background.

In a few years from now, some investigative journalist will ask the question, "Kate and Gerry McCann: Where are they now?"

If this had been a single Mom, on the dole, who had left her youngsters while she went on a week's vacation to Spain, she would have been imprisoned or at the very least fined heavily and put under some sort of order.

I'm sure that social services do the best they can but like everything today, these cases are political 'hot potatoes'. Some poor overworked social worker will get assigned the case as part of their overburdened caseload, with the high-ups hoping it will simply become buried in the bureaucratic red tape.

Ignoring all of the rumours and reports about what happened that night and previous nights, at the end of the day, as doctors they are primary care givers and they should not have left their very young children alone.

It's not as if crèche or babysitting facilities were unavailable at the resort...

I think in the best intrest of the twins that they should be given to family members, people who they know. Just taking them and placing them with strangers will be unecessary harm if the option of family is there. I would like to think that this is what will hapen and those involved will do the right thing by placing them with family. In view of what the Mccann's are dealing with, they should just be doing that willingly anyways so the twins are not stressed.

Ohh. Come one. I'm not in agreement with anything they've done. But give it a break till more evidence comes out. If they have done something to Maddie they should be hung drawn and quartered, but if not, they haven't acted like decent parents and should face the consequences of that. If they haven't done anything to her,can you possible imagine what they are going through. The guilt of leaving those children and the consequences of that. There life will be hell from now on. There's none of us perfect, so lets wait and see.

Edit. Little Weed. I know they NEGLECTED them. That is why as I have already said they will have to face the consequences. They also will have to live with the fact that no matter what the outcome is this was all of their own doing. That will be a very hard burden to bear.

I think the twins have been traumatised enough. I said the other day that they should go to a close relative for a while - maybe Kate's mother. What is bothering me is the crap that's being spouted re "who's going to search for Madeleine NOW" - a reference to the fact that both G & K are suspects? My question is - who was looking for Madeleine BEFORE cos it wasn't those two and the fund hasn't been used for this purpose either! Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the fund set up to assist in the SEARCH for Madeleine in the first place?

Personally i think it is a class issue , the middle classes are better at hiding personality disorders. Doctors are often the last to be suspected. Harold Shipman murdered many people before suspicion was raised. I think the twins will be safe for now among family as long as they are not left alone with Kate who could possibly come out of her cold denial in coming days and snap.

Yes but once again, this is secondhand, KATE or GERRY haven't really said anything, everything they say is either through a 'family friend' or their spokeswoman Justine McGuiness. Same with the Portugese police, they haven't actually said anything either. All this is, is the McCanns playing up to the media, issuing statements etc....they are going to remain tightlipped, unless of course the money is put on the table. I bet they'd love to be selling their story around on GMTV, Richard & Judy etc etc and all the other TV sofa's, but 'unfortunately' for them they are not permitted to speak. Funny too isn't it don't you think how stoic Gerry has remained through all this, but the minute he arrives in the UK he breaks down - urm very media savvy if you ask me.

I wish everyone would STOP being so damn judgmental. Any one of us could be these people. You may not have made the mistake of leaving your children a few hundred yards from you while you were eating(which i agree was a BIG mistake) but I'm sure you've left them in the car to go in and pay for gas, or left them in the yard while you were doing something in the house, etc. -It only takes 30 seconds to have a child kidnapped. They are already going to pay for eternity because Madeleine is probably not alive so why don't you people shut up. If you would really just try to put yourselves in their position for a minute you would change your mind. All you judgmental people are probably not even parents - People that don't have children always have "the best" advice - get a life - when you have your own children you will see that you are not so perfect. The agony they are going through is enough without YOU people judging whether or not their other children should be taken away - how about this - You don't know them so it's NONE of your concern!!!!! Are you willing to step up and take these twins??? and deal with their everyday agony of being stripped from their parents??? Then SHUT-UP - They never thought this would happen to them just like every other case of kidnapped children's parents. Must be hard for you people being so damn perfect.
I really worry about you judgmental people because one day your words will haunt you - especialy when you have kids - then you're going to think back to this and realize how stupid you were for saying the things you are saying

Edit

I don't think you know that they were left every evening - I do not think they should have left them alone even for a minute as small as they were - but- it was a mistake - and not a mistake that deserves their child being kidnapped because of it - that's like saying just because you dress sexy that you deserve to be raped - and I didn't hear anything from you about your own kids - so now I know i'm right - you have no children - if you aren't a parent you shouldn't be judging - period
Right on Kitty!

I don't understand why this wasn't done from day one; they already have evidence of child neglect, endangerment as a starter, where are the charges for that at the very least to begin with as to all 3 children ; they could have been charged with that for the twins and save the other charges to go along with any potential murder charges for their daughter

first is first you don't just leave young children in a room all by themselves, especially when they are toddlers that need looking after constantly. I'm sure they know themselves of this mistake now but it is their fault in the first place they lost one of their kids. WHere's the common sense especially when they are both doctors. Just shows you may have all the qualifications in the world but not an ounce of common sense or brains.
