LOL was original 'text talk', some say it means 'laugh out loud' others think it is 'lots of laughs', when i first started to text i thought it was 'lots of love' or 'loads of love', i am sure that you can imagine the reaction that i received from my wife when i sent her a very lovey dovey text and signed it off with LOL, me thinking it was lots of love, she reading it as laugh out loud, she is now my ex-wife. there is a 'text talk' book that you can by from some good book stores in the UK, or if you Google it i am sure you can get a free copy from somewhere, if you intend using 'text talk' don't make the same mistake i did, you could get into loads of trouble LOL. take care and good luck.

It means Laugh Out Loud, although it can mean Lots Of Love too! It depends on the context of the message/txt.
