Self-discipline is by itself a quality of character to be developed by every individual in the police force and in all walks of life.It needs to be taught to them from school age and it takes efforts to develop it like any othe quality like courage or patience.

Oddly, most who know me consider me to be highly disciplined. I don't consider myself this what. What people report to me is that the ability to control one's self is due in part to

1. Establishing priorities
2. Multitasking

In the police force, this comes out of training. In any collective, a power structure and heirarchy replaces the person's individuality. Also call it knowing and learning the "chain of command".
