I recently got a new prescription of progressive lens (had them before) but this is a change. One eye is more distorted than the other, does this mean the Dr. made a mistake or the optician that did the measurements ?

My eye doctor told me to put them on first thing in the morning and take them off only when I go to bed as it's the only way to get use to them for 2 weeks, taking them off will make it longer and harder to get use to, but I'm doing what he's asking and still feel uncomfortable with them.. but I have to wait till the 2 week period is over which will be Friday.

It really doesn't mean anyone made a mistake. Sometimes, the measurements need to be fine tuned to be exact especially if you require a complicated prescription. Sometimes I have problems when I get new progressive lenses and they have to tweak them, other times, first try is a charm.

In my case, they have learned not to do my progressive eyeglasses at the same time as my progressive contact lenses. My eyes change between the two. I get my contacts first and then after 5 days of wearing them, go back to have my eyes rechecked and measurements taken for my glasses.

Please go back to your eye doctor and tell him you are having problems and they will work on it until they get it right.

The bent image is a problem with the lens shape. It should never distort anything, but it could be a few different problems. For one it could be that they accidentally put a prism in the wrong lens, this method is used to allow for a better center vision (I have prism in both lenses, some folks have it in just one). It could be the frames you chose, if you have a heavy duty prescription and get some small frames this can cause issues with the overall shape and resulting appearance. It could also be that you just got the wrong prescription. You should contact your eye doctor and talk to them about it, if they say it's no big deal then they're a quack and it's time to find a new one. I've been dealing with eye doctors since I was 7 years old and have been to see some of the worlds most renound retinal specilists (you'll never end up going the route I've gone though LoL) and I've learned that just because someone is an eye doctor that doesn't make them a good one. Good luck!

Getting new Glasses is a annoying experence for me. i feel all out of wack. seems the more i try to see out of a new pair the more my head and eyes hurts. i was told to give my eyes breaks. wear the new prescription for awhile then rest your eyes. it took about a week to adjust to my last prescription. i thought for sure there was a mistake with them. Try gradually getting used to them by taking them off for a few mins every hour.
