I've been a big fan of basketball my whole life. And also of the league, the NBA. Honestly, I've been a fan because of two guys who revolutionized the game. One has the undying will to win, 6 MVPs, 6 Championships. Another has the innate ability who could do it all. It's the old Air vs Heir debate. I've been a big supporter of the two, though I'v only seen MJ play in his last year with Chicago. And I really can't think what differs Kobe from MJ. They both are great. They are unstoppable. But who really is the greatest? Mr. 81 or Mr. Jordan?

If both Kobe and Michael were in the same plateau of greatness why then would people not agree to trade Kobe over to Michael 1:1? That is maybe because Kobe has yet to prove anything. As pointed out by the answerer 10 above me (I think he took that from Rick Kamla's analysis? http://youtube.com/watch?v=UGyupOk1sp0&mode=related&search=) Kobe fails to elevate his game when the games are really on the line, that is, come play-off time. Jordan elevates his game always a notch higher than usual everytime they step on the play-offs. His value is that of Shaq's value. He is irreplaceable. That is the difference both this player's have head-to-head. Something Kobe fanatics find hard to accept because it's true.

Hope this helps.

As Always,

Jordan vs Kobe

first off, MJ won 5 MVP awards, not 6. now, i'm a huge fan of both. but if ur asking about who is truly the better player? the stats show it all: Michael is ahead with an insurmountable margin. MJ is the best player in the game, but Kobe is the most talented. Everything (1 on 1 moves) that Jordan could do, Kobe can do. But what separates them is the ego and mindset. Jordan was more of a team player. He made his teammates better. To summarize all of this, here is what Kobe has to do to even tie Michael Jordan as the greatest player of all time.

1) Win Defensive Player of Year

2) Win 8 more Scoring Titles

3) Raise Playoff Scoring Average - Kobe's averages 24.6 ppg for his career, but his playoff career average is 23.3. Michael on the other hand averaged 30 ppg for his career and averaged 37 ppg for the playoffs.

4) Win 5 more MVPs

5) Win 3 more Championships

(The 6 Final MVPs are not included because Kobe did not win the previous 3)

Michael Jordan is the greatest player of all time. Kobe Bryant is more talented than Michael Jordan.

i think jordan is still the best.. Most of his moves cannot be easily duplicated even by kobe.. yah, Kobe scored 81 and is 2nd best to wilt's record but when you say or hear the word "basketball" the first player that comes to everyone's mind is "his airness"-MJ and we cannot change that mentality because there is something in michael jordan that everybody loves and for this he is considered the greatest. Maybe it's his totality as a player and person on and off the court. That's what adds to his charisma..

Jordan should be the answer if you know basketball. He had numerous scoring titles without jacking 20 something shots a game. Won 6 titles without someone nearly as dominant as shaq. The argument could also be that Jordan played and dominated against much stiffer compitition. From the detroit bad boy pistons ,to magics lakers, clydes blazers, reggies pacers, birds celtics, the knicks when they were good, barkleys suns, kept malone and stockton from ever winning a ring. Also the three second rule wasnt in effect when jordan came into the league, neither that or the handchecking rules which allow alot of touch fouls.

Jordan is the best player in the game hands down... better team player, offensive and defensive player... no one has ever doubted to put jordan on top of any lists of all-time greats... he saved the NBA ticket sales...for his last season every city he played against was sold out and a standing ovation...even miami and other teams retired his jersey.... jordan never had issues about character outside the court...

the difference from kobe? character and charisma...

It depends on your definition of great. There is only one Micheal Jordan and there will never be another. Besides when he came into the league they said he was the next Dr. J. Well, Mike has made his own legacy and Kolbe will make his. My definition of a great player is a player that can make other player's great. Kolbe has yet to do that.

For me, this is a hard question to answer without writing a book; so I'll try to make this as short and simple as possible, without leaving out any important details.

Michael Jordan was better in every single area of the game.

On offense on defense and all the little intricacies of the game, Michael was better.

Here's a few links to help you better understand why I say this.
