It's a good question, but you have to understand that, based on solved cases of the mysterious disappearance and death of child, unfortunately, the parents are often involved. That's why it always struck me as odd that the Ramseys were shocked SHOCKED(!) that they were considered potential suspects from the beginning. I really do hope that the McCanns, who seem like nice people, didn't have anything to do with it. I still don't think it's right to leave a 4 year old and two year old twins in a hotel room asleep, because if they wake up, they'll be terrified and leave the room in search of their parents (especially the 4 year old).

Well, for starters, I do not believe they had anything to do with it. Portugal is about to become another Aruba. Heavily relying on tourist business, they just do NOT want it to ever be discovered that one of their own people took and possibly killed this child. They totally screwed up the early investigation, and seriously compromised the possible "crime scene", and now they are thrashing around in the dark trying desperately to make this whole mess go away. If there is some way they can project the blame on "the foreigners" (this child's own parents) they will do so.

But the things that the Portugese police and other officials are claiming just don't add up. At the moment they are trying to throw out hints to the media that possibly the parents (who are both doctors) could have sedated the children to make sure they stayed sleeping while the parents went out to dinner that night. They are suggesting that perhaps the little girl died accidentally as a result of this sedative, and then, of course, the parents disposed of the body somewhere. But where in the world would they have had the time and the opportunity to make that body disappear so completely? And if the child died of sedation, why would there be any blood spilt? They are also claiming to have found some blood evidence.

These parents made the unfortunate decision to go out and leave their small children alone while they had dinner. It was only 100 yards away, but it was still way too far, and it was an utterly foolish thing to have done, especially in a foreign country. But to be now accusing them, without a shred of evidence that they had means, motive or opportunity to dispose of this child's body, smacks of conspiracy to me.... conspiracy to avoid any public discovery that the perpetrator was actually a Portugese person, and thereby possibly do serious damage to the tourist business. Not to mention a conspiracy to cover up their own police incompetence. As I said, it looks like deja vue all over again, a repeat of what happened in Aruba, and also once in Colorado with the Ramsay case, where the police and other authorities made such a hash of things that the truth will almost certainly never be known.

I think the family have got something to do with the disappearance . My friend went to Portugal and went to see the place where the Mcanns were eating and they couldn't see the apartment from there. Also , a family member might be involved as he was in a car when he came across from England and , when he went back , there was a car seat in it but with no child! STRANGE!

An accident, which the McCanns as doctors, would be anxious to cover up for the sake of their professional reputations.
Having seen their home on Sky tv, (which I thought was negligent to show btw), they need their professional reputations intact to sustain their life-style.

I agree with the supposition that they sedated Maddy and something went wrong; either they accidentally gave her an overdose, or she woke up and fatally injured herself (thus accounting for the blood in the holiday apartment).

Perhaps when they gave Madiline an accidental overdose, she died, if the mother had postpardum, or something similar, she would have had to get rid of the body or she would become crazy, so it was, and wasn't their fault.

Nice information Eleanor T.
