Hi,
Well the reason that writing notes helps is because sometimes during an exam you'd remember yourself writing the things down...is you just read it your mind might set it in the temporary memory storage..writing makes u feel as though u have taken more part in studying...
Typing is good as a study technique but is not as effective as writing as typing does not give importance to what is written down, it gives importance to efficiency.. sometimes u might even remember how u wrote something down and in this case typing does not help much.
Also, there are certain colours which are known to be of better help for remembering points...red is not a very good colour to remember..try sticking to standard pen colours such as black and blue.
You could also try adding diagrams which represent certain points. Sometimes people find it easier to remember visual representations then text.
If you feel prepared, you should feel more relaxed and therefore should be able to go better in the exam.

Gluck...hope this helped :)
take carez

People learn a lot of different ways. Some by hearing, some by seeing and some by physical involvement with the subject. The more senses and parts of your brain you involve, the better. If you write, or type, the material you have to study, you involve your eyes and the motor sections of your brain, and yes, that will help you remember.

This is one reason teachers tell you to take reading notes as well as lecture notes, and sometimes to copy them over.
