"If" by Rudyard Kipling - describes how one should live their life

"Down and Out" by Clarence Leonard Hay - describes how cheating can be a slippery slope and how life is full of hard choices

"The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam" by Edward Fitzgerald - describes the fleeting nature of life and how we should drip deep from its cup before the tavern closes and the cup is dry. This is also the most widely read poem in the English language.

These three poems are serious poems on complex topics, but done in an easily understood way...and they are beautifully done as well.
