I've just had 2 points deducted because a question I answered has been deleted.
I've never noticed this before, is it a new thing, or am I catching on late?

has happened to me twice now, it seems yahoo are punishing those who answer questions, which seems to me to be defeating the object of the game

Well you get 2 points for answering the question then if it gets removed you lose the 2 points so you're in exactly the same position as if you hadn't answered the question. Which is why if this gets deleted I'll only be in the same position as if I hadn't bothered to put my 2 pence opinion in. So I may as well answer it because if it stays up I keep the 2 points. Nice. :-D

Instead of getting 10 points deducted and a violation notice for answering a q. that is in violation (wtva), they are just taking 2 points and no violation.

was thinking the same thing, twice in the last week I have had an alert saying I have had 1 point deducted, clueless as to why and what it was for, never lost any points before this

I've just had a similar thing happen! A Q which was resolved 4 weeks ago (which I asked), was removed/deleted, and now I'm minus two points - how annoying!

Yahoo answers are harsh! I certainly didn't know that! I do however know that you can violate an answer and get 12 points deducted. It's happened 3 times with me ...

I was led to believe that if a question got deleted, answerers still kept their points. What about resolved questions that they decide to delete? Do BAs lose their ten points, too?
That is not right!

when any answer u have is deleted the 2 points that were given 2 u when u answered will be taken back.

I have had this happen before, that is why I am careful what I answer. It happened with those Avatar Game questions to me.
