you need a scientific calculator for this...

um...calculators have different instructions so um i hope you can follow these (hehehehehe):

1) in your calculator, look for "tan ^ -1" (this is "arc tangent"...in most calculators, it's found above the tangent button "tan"...to activate arc tangent you must press "shift" or "2nd F" the the "tan" button) and press it. it should now appear on the screen.

2) put in 6/7 and press the equal sign. you should now see the answer.

arctan (6 / 7) = 0.708626272

The angle α is approximately 0.7086.

I took trigonometry a long time ago, but I remember tangent is the opposite side over the adjacent side

SOHCAHTOA

sine is opposite side over hypotenuse, cosine is adjacent over hypotenuse, and tangent is opposite over adjacent. I can't remember how to actually solve your problem. Sorry.
