Chop it down as low as possible.then just keep mowing the area all season to keep new shoots from developing into full canes. eventually, the roots will exhaust themselves and will die out. if they keep persisting, pour boiling water on the roots........

Most people think of bamboo as the running type but are not aware of the clum type.
Running is highly INVASIVE.
The first question you need to ask yourself is, what type of bamboo.........there are only 2 running and clumping, (there is one called reed bamboo which is a grass like the bamboo but not as strong as bamboo). Running is your worst nightmare if not grown in containment area. Both are hard to eradicate.
There are over 1200 kinds of "bamboo", many of which are extremely useful to mankind. In fact, they may become even more useful in the future.
There are two major types of bamboo.

I suggest you use this natural product as it is very useful to make furniture and very strong- it grows about a metre a day. Part of your plot of land could be concreted over if you want to build a house (?) Try not to destroy this useful bamboo. There is too much destruction being performed by delinquents who get into power, in all countries.

You have to dig them up by the roots. They are very difficult to remove any other way. It might be easier if you saturate the ground with water first.

I would use the maxium strength of MSMA and Roundup. What the MSMA doesn't kill the Round-up will.
