Of course, why not? It's a democracy, they don't go around blowing countries up unlike some members, or is that what the EU is? A gun club, in that case no.

Another Troll question posted by a BNP supporter.
The ignorance with regards Turkey here is truly astounding.
Turkey is the most secular of the Islamic states, the Turkish military doesn't allow any meeting of Islamic Church and State.
There is a very good standard of living in Turkey, funded by the 5 million Turks who live in Germany since the end of WW2.
Although they allowed to live and work in Germany, they were never granted German citizenship, and their children are registered as Turkish Nationals, with all the males having to return to Turkey for national service in the military at 18.
Upon retirement they move back to live in Turkey, where the pensions, they have contributed to in Germany keep them in a comfortable lifestyle.

I actual tend to think of it would be, yet could desire to of direction be held to the comparable rules as all different ecu contributors. i'm notably particular the present Turkish government does not be in compliance. i'm questioning that turning out to be a member of the ecu could be a solid element for Turks, besides the reality that, Islamic extremists might in comparison to Turkey turning out to be a member of the ecu, and can initiate attacking them, to deliver a message to different Islamic international places to no longer connect forces with the west.

Well, being Canadian, it's none of my business who gets into the EU. However, since everyone's input is welcome on these boards I'll give my thoughts.
Firstly, I would argue that the Turks are not European people, despite having 3% of their land on the European continent. Like it or not Turks are descendents of nomadic Asiatics, so there's the racial aspect as to why Turkey should not be welcomed into the EU.
Secondly, there's the cultural issues. Turkey is 99.9% Islamic. That point needs no further explanation.
Thirdly, the Turks have been responsible for genocide against Armenians.
Fourthly, the Ottoman Empire was a plague on Europe when it existed.
Fifth, the Turks still practice torture in prisons. This is civilised???
Sixth, Inflation in Turkey has been known to be as high as 90%. Sounds like Turkey benefits from being in the EU, but the existing EU countries would be brought down.
Europeans: Germans, British, Irish, French, Dutch, Belgians, Swiss, Italians, Czechs, Scandinavians, Poles, Greeks, Spaniards Portuguese . . . nope, don't see the Turks on that list.

No, the EU is too big already and how can the EU be regarded as truly European if it has a border with Syria, and Iraq?
There is a definite cultural difference between the states in the north of the EU and the south - but even more between the states going from west to east. Turkey is rampant with corruption and heroin, so they could literally bring it in to the EU without having to be checked at all.
It's all very trendy and inclusive for the UK to campaign for Turkish membership, but I think that Germany and France (who are both against it) must have very good reasons for opposing it, but they may not be able to actually "say" exactly why, because of allegations of racism.

I don't think so. The people there are very behind, almost barbaric, and I'm not exaggerating. In a tv show I saw that there was a reporter that was trying to show them what the toilet is used for, but they ended up using it as a water sourse for horses and animals :S
That explains much.
And the fact that they're Muslims and have terrorising teams (e.g Grey Wolves) and that throughout the centuries they have been brutal with Greeks and Cypriots, claiming their land, and customs as their own.
Such a nation should not be allowed to enter a civilized union

No. They have a religious dictatorship. Open access would spread their people all over Europe. They refused to help the US. They deserve to rot in poverty for the foreseeable future. They are also a threat to our real friends, the Kurds. To enrich them would be dangerous to US interests. One of their people sought to attack Americans in Germany. I have yet to hear their Moslem president denounce Moslem terrorism. They will serve as a vector for Moslem conquest of Europe if allowed in. Europe is weak.
